Based on my experiences taking care of my parents as they aged, Ray and I decided to move near our children while we could still manage it pretty much on our own. We both had a child on the west coast, so that is where we headed. We made thousands of decisions about what to keep and what to give up. In the end some of what we kept, got lost in the move anyway and it seemed not to matter. What we really gave up was the family and friends on the east coast and what we really gained was the family and new friends on the west coast. We are feeling more secure in the knowledge that we will have help from my daughter and family (who live right behind us) when we need it. It is also great that we moved while we are still young enough to support her and our two youngest grandchildren when they need it
