This site serves two purposes. One to allow me to wax prosaic whenever I want. Whether someone reads it or not is immaterial. Since I am not much of a Facebook person, I thought maybe a blog would be the next best thing. Secondly, it is a place where I can display my art without having to physically carry it around, although I do that too. The concept of a website and the opportunity to display my art in various venues, precipitated digitization and organization. The process is tedious and takes time, but in the end it is very helpful when submitting works to galleries, shows or contests. I have an Access database that allows me to connect an image of the work with its name, size, location, media, etc. I can also print reports that list what works I have where. I highly recommend it to other artists.
When I conceived of this site (while sipping wine), I purchased the domain name, the hosting company and the development software. Then I realized that I not only did not have the skills to develop the site but I also didn’t want to spend the time to acquire them. After a couple of years muddling about, I talked my IT enabled grandson, Zachary, into building the site. He started me out with a basic design, which I struggled to remember how to use. Then my daughter, Gwen-Alyn, stepped in, rearranged some things and made me sit with her so I could understand what I needed to do to get content in. Thanks so much to my helpers. I am now rearranging pages at will, adding images, posts and hyperlinks. It turns out it wasn’t that difficult!
